The state of sunshine

When Sunshine Screens took up residence in spacious Queensland premises around five years ago, the move represented the culmination of an evolution that has seen the company steadily position itself as a leading fabric and readymade blind and curtain supplier.

Sunshine Screens’ origins date back around 30 years, when the company began selling cane ware and decorated screens out of the Sydney markets, sales representative Michele Carstensen confirms. The business quickly grew and before long expanded into readymade blinds such as the bamboo roll-ups and paper blinds that were fashionable at the time.

“Over several years, consistent growth and increasing market demand for quality readymade blind products prompted permanent Sydney premises to be established. This enabled us to provide the support, service level and quality products that the market was looking for.”

A key new chapter for the business opened around 10 years ago when Sunshine Screens began importing its own fabric ranges for internal window coverings, Carstensen says.

“With solid growth occurring in the fabric market and continual growth in the ready made range, it became a natural progression for Sunshine Screens to expand its warehousing capacity by relocating to Queensland and increasing the infrastructure to provide the necessary support, stock levels and service to its clients.”

The rest, as they say, is history. Now headquartered in “the sunshine state” and operating warehouses in Brisbane and Sydney, Sunshine Screens carries an extensive fabric range and a diverse readymade blind and curtain range. In particular Sunshine’s comprehensive fabric range has been a key component of its growth strategy for some time, says Carstensen.

“We listen to what the market needs and our fabric range is designed to reflect market requirements in not only its colourways and designs but also its prices; these are structured to allow all areas of the market to access high quality, contemporary fabrics at the right price.”

“By keeping our fabric and readymade ranges relative to the market, we have the capacity to hold large stock levels, helping us to support our clients and what they need for their business success.”

As another positive way of supporting its clients, Sunshine Screens provides customised sampling options that are personally branded for individual businesses. The personalised sampling is branded with the client’s logo and corporate identity and is designed to support any size and type of business, Carstensen explains.

“The Sunshine Screens philosophy is to support and assist our clients in creating their own brand. Working closely with a diverse range of clients, our focus is to constantly develop effective ways to provide support in the professional development and growth of our clients’ businesses.”

Also key to supporting its clients is Sunshine Screen’s flexible, broad-based approach.

“We recognise that the window coverings industry consists of retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers big and small and we understand that one size does not fit all. With that in mind, Sunshine Screens are continuously introducing new product options to satisfy the market’s diverse requirements.”

Meanwhile, with the online readymade retail sector continuing to experience solid growth, Sunshine Screens is ideally placed to supply and support this fast developing area of the industry.

“The online retailers present an exciting new set of requirements and Sunshine Screens is focused on providing the products and service they need for their continued growth and success”.

Sunshine Screens’ solid heritage and organic but steady growth appear to be paving the way for a promising future.
